George
Great location within walking distance of shops, restaurants and nightlife. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Rooms were adequate, clean and comfortable.
Hotel in general is dated and needs a facelift. Noisy at night due to street noise and ongoing construction nearby.

Charles
The service provided there was friendly. Castle keep was around the corner.

The location was brilliant for the city centre, free parking, it was ideal for the price you pay!!

The hotel's location is perfect for exploring the city's attractions and restaurants, with easy access to public transportation. The staff is friendly and polite. The room was clean and comfortable, with a good shower and free toiletries provided. Wi-Fi signal was strong.
The hotel is quite old and could use some renovation. The walls were thin and we could hear noise from the neighboring rooms.

No clear directions to the hotel car park. Bed was not made upon arrival.

This hotel is in an awesome location, right next to the shops and literally in amongst the nightlife. The room was clean and bright, with comfortable beds and large windows. The reception staff were pleasant and helpful. The buffet breakfast, although busy, had a good variety of food options. The hotel also offers free, secure city center parking.
The hotel overall is quite tired looking and in need of a facelift.

One memeber of staff was really friendly his name was austin, and the staff at reception when we were checking out were very understanding to our complaints
Bath had green limscale stained onto bathtub, night porter called my friend a "fat cow", at 4am in the morning a stranger from the room next door was let into my room by one of the hotels staff, the selection of tv channels was very poor! There were holes in the bed sheets!! I can't believe I was charge 80 pounds for the night at this hotel....the manager did refund half, however on reflection I think due to my safety being put into a comprimising position by someone who worked in this hotel I think the full amount charged should have been refunded!!I wouldn't recommened this hotel for dogs never mind humans!!

yes, The 85 - 90% of the residents. young drunken louts who kept the remaining residents up all night, alarm going off at 5 am, singingand banging doors during the night, parading in the corridors with drinks in their hands singing and shouting etc etc etc.

Hotel was an excellent location .. me and my friend went for a fun weekend with a great nightlife and with the gate on our doorstop that covered that! The train station is also only 5 mins away from the hotel which was perfect for going to and from the hotel and catching the train to the metro centre for some shopping :) overal the hotel done exactly what I said for us .. the rooms were spotless couldnt have asked for better cleanliness .. we had a fab time t the newgate and it was great value for money and will definitely be my first choice of hotel on my return!
The rooms were extremely warm .. it's was a bit of a nightmare trying to get ready at night as it was far too warm and the windows only opened slightly which didn't bring in very much air! Apart from that the room was great :)

I travelled by train for a shopping break so I choose this hotel for its location, which was in the middle of the city and 5 mins walk from the station. The room was comfortable and clean and there was a wide variety of choice for breakfast. Breakfast was served on the 6 floor and had wonderful views all over the city. The staff very polite and helpful.
The Hotel entrance of the street was a staircase (no lift here but there was lift in the main hotel) then follow signs through two empty rooms and then a corridor to find the reception, not very welcoming. Stayed last week sept (heat wave) Room was on the 1st floor and there was no air con so I found it very warm, so had the window open which allowed the noise from the late night drinkers in. Don't know if a room higher up would be less noisier. Hotel could do with updating in decorations and metal window frames need replacing, also my window sill was loose if I had leaned on in it would have fell off.

It was brill in the centre if th city. In the middle of everything .
To be honest all good apart from the room did not smell nice. It was like 100 smokers had been in there. It was a stale smell We are not smokers... That was the only disappointing thing

The Location was excellant right in the City Centre and close to the Newcastle Arena which is why we were in town for the weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful with telling us places to go to eat and visit.
The Hotel however was not that impressive. In a 3* hotel you do not expect lap of luxury however I do not expect to find the bath stained green and stained black in other areas, I do not expect the bath panel to be falling off the bath, the toilet was so close to the wall you couldnt sit on the toilet straight. The room was supposed to be a double room however we had a double bed and a single bed in the room which meant there was very little floor space. The corridors were shabby looking with paint cracking and peeling fromt he ceiling and walls the fire doors were worn looking.
